What is Optical Character Recognition (OCR)?

OCR is a machine learning technique that extracts text from images, even across multiple image formats. Transform virtually any kind of scannable document with any kind of image into a text file. OCR is a great tool for high volumes of differently formatted images and text, like receipts or invoices.

These can include any images, including those in textbooks, graffiti, license plates, signs and more. Our OCR algorithm transforms scanned documents into text files, which can then be read by a computer and used to search for patterns and vital data.  OCR lets business users analyze large amounts of documentation, particularly those with high daily volumes such as invoices, receipts, medical records, media releases and more—even if they are handwritten.
